I have finally found a new title for my novel! Even though I only had one vote in the polls it doesn't really matter since the new title is not any of the ones that was up for voting on anyway!!

Here it is!:

Because of Maine

Novel Excerpt #5

“I love you Celia.” He said again, shaking me gently, trying to snap me out of my trance I think.

“No.” I whispered. He couldn’t. He’d been married before, he has a daughter, if he loved me, wouldn’t he have told me sooner?

“Celia?” He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close when he realized I was crying, “Don’t cry. I’m sorry, but I needed you to know, I’ve been trying to figure out how to tell you all summer.”

“I’m going home tomorrow. I can’t do this Kyle. I’m going home tomorrow. Don’t do this to me.” I buried my face in his shoulder.
“Celia, look at me please.”

And that was the worst mistake I’d made all summer. Why? Because he kissed me.

Okay, it's official, my plot line has taken on a life of it's own! The plot has totally and completely changed, Celia and Kyle have officially taken over the story and are now dictating it. Here is the new synopsis:

When Celia goes to stay with her grandmother in Lincolnville, ME she meets Kyle Carpenter. When she begins to let her feelings show, Kyle pulls away. Kyle has a secret, and what will Celia do when she finds out what it is?

What do you guys think??

A New Title Poll

Attention everyone!!

I am having a poll to help choose the new title for my novel, as the one I had before no longer applies.

In the right hand side bar you should see the box with the poll title and choices, please cast your vote, you only have one week!!

Oi Vay...

Well, the journey of NaNoWriMo just gets more interesting. I woke up this morning suffering from severe writer's block, and not quite sure how to get over it. I did a little talking with my mom and suddenly had a somewhat clearer picture of where Celia's story was going. I sounds promising right now, so we'll see where it takes us. I was rather put out with my plotline for changing itself without telling me, but I think this new idea will be much better.

I do however have to go back to writing though, Celia woke up this morning to a rather bad case of poison ivy and is not real happy about it....

Excerpt #4 from "The Maine Dares"

"Celia! What happened to you?" Grandma asked in surprise, looking me up and down.

I looked down at myself and discovered that on top of my arms and legs being covered in scratches, but that some of them actually looked quite serious as well.

Excerpt #3 from "The Maine Dares"

"What are those ?" I asked Grandma, pointing at the tank. The "brown" on the bottom of the tank had started to move and taken on the shape of many large multiple long legged insect type creatures.

"They're lobsters." Grandma said looking at me strangely, "Haven't you ever seen one before?"

"No. I'm not sure I've ever even heard of lobsters before."

Day #3 of NaNo

Well, here I am at day # 3, (I will try to remember to post a good excerpt today!), and while I'm not exactly thousands of words a head of everyone else, I am making slow progress, the first day I surpassed my personal word count goal, but a couple hundred words, and yesterday, I failed to meet NaNo's word count goal by a measly two words (if I hadn't already closed the document file containing my story and been shutting the rest of the computer down, I would have typed those two lowly words, but oh well.

I'm not sure how much writing I'll bet done today, I will strive for my personal goal first, that way I at least make NaNo's goal. So far so good then, I guess.

I will try very hard, as I previously mentioned to try and find a good excerpt to post from the story today, although it may not be until later tonight if I do, so please stay tuned!!

Day#1 of Serious Writing

Well, today is the first official day of NaNoWriMo for me (even though I started writing yesterday! Sshh!!), and I've done fairly well, I surpassed NaNo's word goal of 1,66-something or other, and I've surpassed my personal word goal of 2,000 and the day's not over yet! I'm on a roll watch out world!! LOL.

Tomorrow I hope to do at least as well.

And for those of you interested in the story, I'm not posting an excerpt today, but I will give you and update!! Celia has left home, reached Maine and now reached her grandmother's house. It's very late, she's very tired, and is about to call her family and let them know she's gotten to Grandma's safely.

I'll be very interested to see what happens to her tomorrow.

Stay tuned!
God Bless!

Excerpt #2 From "The Maine Dares"

As I was standing in line to get on the bus, I turned back and waved one last time at my family before getting on the bus.
I had no clue what was ahead of me, but I was about to find out.

Excerpt #1 from "The Maine Dares"

Chapter One
Traveling to Maine

"Where are my pants?" I murmured to myself. I was furiously rummaging through various piles of clothing around my room. I was about to get on a bus for a several-hour-long ride to the coast of Maine and was desperately searching for my most comfortable pair of jeans, which had obviously picked the most inopportune moment to disappear."

Two More Days!

The NaNoWriMo challenge officially begins in two more days, and then I will start writing The Maine Dares. Hopefully I will remember to post excerpts from the story as I go.

At this point, I don't know quite where Celia's story is going, it will be an adventure for all concerned! I hope you'll come along for the ride!

I am participating in the NaNoWriMo challenge, and have decided that when it is done, my novel is finished and edited, that I am going to publish it, so I've decided to start promoting it now.

Here is a brief synopsis of the story:

When Celia's grandmother invites to her to come stay with her at her cottage in Lincolnville ME, Celia grumbles at the prospect of living in the middle of the woods for an undetermined amount of time, but at her parents urging, she grudgingly agrees to go. Celia's grandmother encourages her to find the beauty and laughter in her stay in Maine and every morning leaves a new dare or challenge for Celia to complete either that day or over the course of several days in order to help her see, that just because it's not New York City, doesn't mean Maine's not a special place.
Stay tuned for more about the story and for excerpts!!
